Additionally, there are reports of cockatiels that live as much as three decades with the oldest reported being 36 years old. Cockatiels are known as the species of parrots with a crest on top of their heads and are sometimes known as a small cockatoo. These species love to stay in scrublands, wet lands, bush lands and in different parts of the domestic Australia. Usually, a cockatiel in the wild is gray in color. They domestic types are the lutino, silver, cinnamon, pied and pearl with diverse shades of peach, yellow, white and orange. Cockatiels can control their behaviors if they feel ill, scared, curious through using their crest. This is a unique characteristic of the cockatiel.

As mentioned earlier, a cockatiel life span goes from 15 to 20 years. These are not very unusual lifetime for a cockatiel which can even make it to 30 years or more. Other than being concerned about their cage, it is also important to provide a cockatiel with daily exercise and of course, it is important to give a healthy diet that includes fresh vegetables and fruits. They certainly love to hang out with humans and can stay in their heads or shoulder.
